Fall in Love with Boyce's Countryside Charm
At the center of town you'll find Boyce's volunteer fire department, late-1800s churches and school buildings, houses with wide front porches, and mature trees growing out of grassy lawns. This is Boyce's nationally recognized historic district, which is known for its Queen Anne, Greek Revival, and Craftsman architecture. Nestled in Clarke County, Boyce is a small community of about 600 residents who value the town's peace and quiet, historic charm, and laid-back way of life.
In Boyce, History Takes Center Stage
Boyce grew up around the railroad and was known as Boyceville before its incorporation as a town in 1910. Just about every property in this community has a story to tell, from the olive-green house with its stone wall at 12 East Main Street (one of the earliest homes in the area) to the 19th-century storefront at 116 Main Street (once belonging to RC Green & Co. General Merchants and one of the oldest commercial buildings in Boyce).
Though the town has changed slightly since it was settled in the 1880s, it has not lost its small-town charm. Today, residents can enjoy the historic architecture and quiet way of life that has made Boyce, and this entire area of Virginia, such a desirable place to live.
Boyce Railroad Station
Built in the 1880s and replaced in 1910, the Boyce Railroad Station near Main Street served as a stop along the Shenandoah Valley Railroad, which is now part of Norfolk Southern. The railroad depot is a historic landmark and a key part of the area's history.
