Why Does Virginia Produce Such Amazing Wine?

It's no secret that Virginia is one of the largest wine-producing states in America. But residents' fascination with wine-making goes back centuries to the time of the European colonists. Thomas Jefferson's attempts at cultivating wine, while unsuccessful, eventually inspired other people to experiment with different species and produce award-winning wines that have made Virginia famous.

Our area of Virginia is part of the Middleburg viticultural area, one of seven designated grape-growing regions in the state, and is known best for growing merlot, cabernet franc, chardonnay, and riesling grapes.
