Middleburg's historic district lies at the intersection of Washington Street and Madison Street, and many of the buildings in the district have remained virtually unchanged since the town was first laid out in 1787.

Today there are special zoning regulations for the historic Middleburg district that seek to preserve the small town's heritage and historic architecture.
